Eliza is funny, witty and gorgeous (o ha!). In this post, I will introduce every lesson I learned from her using the wit of inspiring and gorgeous women too.
I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny. — Coco Chanel
This is one of her most favorite quotes. And she takes it to heart because I REALLY do not see her without makeup. There was a time when a photo of me and Jenny of MyMommyology came out online and Eliza saw it. She immediately emailed us to tell us NEVER to have our photos taken without fixing our face. EVER.
Eliza likes to teach moms how to do makeup. She tells us that being a mom is not an excuse to go out looking losyang. It takes a little effort but it’s not that hard. With practice and guidance from Eliza, I have learned to put on makeup in just 15 minutes in the morning. I just use the time allotted for breakfast. (Priorities right?)
There are no ugly women, only lazy ones. — Helena Rubinstein
Yup, Eliza is also this brutally frank. When it comes to skin care, laziness is inexcusable. Her tips: Clean and exfoliate your face (I’ve been using Cure Natural Aqua Gel and I’m addicted.); use sunscreen, moisturizer day and night, and eye cream. (Lately, I’ve been using a konjac sponge too. I like it!).
Most of all, only use filtered water to wash your face — install an Aquasana Shower Filter in your bath. Of course I have to say this! I distribute it. More than that though, if your water’s not clean and contains harmful chemicals, your skin will not be as clean and healthy either. (Eliza uses Aquasana too!)
Don’t worry about me. Worry about your eyebrows. — I don’t know who said this but I saw this on Eliza’s IG feed.
I always thought I had nice eyebrows and I never did anything to them … until Eliza told me they still needed work. Bwahahaha. She’s that good a friend.
Her tips to me: have them groomed in a good brow place; use a good brow liner or shade (what do you call it??) — she likes K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow; and use a spooly brush to soften.
I tried using Billion Dollar Brows from Beauty Bar and I liked it at first. Then I tried the K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow and it seemed more natural and light. I probably used the former the wrong way but I have a tendency to use too much with a pencil. The Real Lasting Eyebrow was surprisingly super easy to use. The distributor just so happens to be my co-parent in school and whenever I see her, like when I see Eliza, I want to cover my brows because I feel performance anxiety.
I’m thankful, though, for understanding the power of good brows. Nicely-shaped, well-groomed eyebrows really make you look better!
Make-up can only make you look pretty on the outside but it doesn’t help if you’re ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the make-up. — Audrey Hepburn
OK, this lesson isn’t about makeup. It’s more about the eating. Haha. Eliza loves to eat. I love having impromptu lunches with her while waiting for our kids to come out of school. We enjoy food. In the #BetterMe session where Eliza taught us about makeup, our venue was Casa Marcos in Forbes Town Center in BGC. Everyone loved the food — the tenderloin tips, the almejas, the paella down to the mini pandesals. Ooh, I’m getting hungry while remembering.
I said, ‘You know, [my butt] isn’t so bad for 40, right?’ And [my friend] goes, ‘It’s not so bad for a 22-year-old stripper!'” – Gwyneth Paltrow
If she’s your friend, Eliza will have your back. She is supportive and honest and frank and funny. I know … I know we will be life-long friends. She’ll probably do makeup for my daughters’ major life events.
And with this post, I am supporting her career as a makeup artist. If you are as clueless as I was about makeup, you will benefit from Eliza’s intimate makeup sessions where she can teach you and your friends about skin care, how to put on makeup the right way, what products to buy from the makeup brands (she went with me to Beauty Bar and Mac to choose the right products!), and most of all, she gives really practical tips. She charges 1,500 per person for a group of 6 to 10. Contact her at email@example.com.

My reviews of the products above were done on products I bought myself. K-Palette was given away during the event by Beauty Box Corp.
