Last night, I slept for a total of two hours in increments of 20 minutes with 1 hour intervals in between. N has a cold and last night, she wanted to be carried constantly. Now I am a zombie. Despite that, I had a flash of insight.
Why not create a Mom Hotel? It’s a short term (or in ewwwie terms, short time) hotel for moms who just need to get out of the house to sleep (think motel concept without the hanky panky). Some people will just wonder why I don’t just sleep at home (You’re probably not a mom if you’re wondering that). Let me enlighten you. If I stay in the house, I won’t be able to sleep because the kids will see me and I’ll always find something to do or feel guilty if I don’t do anything.

Hence, my MomHotel idea. You can even have a discount if you bring your own sheets. (Or shampoo and vacuum the mattress.)
Isn’t it a brilliant business idea? However, because I’m a busy mom with 2 businesses to match, I have no time to follow through with my ideas. So instead of shelving my brilliance, I decided it was time to submit an idea to Unilab Link Up. (Hey, they might be able to do something about it.)
I logged in on their site, clicked submit an idea, selected Wellness as my category (is it really under wellness? But hey, if I get sleep, I’ll get well), agreed to the terms and conditions, clicked that it was an ongoing development (translation: I thought about it last night) then I described my innovation idea. It took all of 7 minutes. After that, I got an email that it will go through a review.
It’s actually pretty interesting and fulfilling that one of my ideas is being reviewed by a board in Unilab. And because they take these things seriously, I know they won’t laugh at it. Who knows, my Mom Hotel may be the next big thing after chain massage places (Hey, we can offer amazing massages too … zzzzzzzzz).
