From Mouseketeer to Mission Impossible Mom: Keri Russell

I loved watching Felicity when I was in college and I’ve liked Keri Russell since then.

She’s my age.  She also has a 4-yr old.  And she’s expecting another baby.  (Now, if only I looked as good or as chic as she did … floppy sun hat – check. wayfarers –  check, white v-neck – check, dark jeans – check, gold chain and pendant – check … Nope, it’s not working.)

Well, one thing we have in common is that she has an O.C. side of her.  Here are some excerpts from her interview with ParentDish:

PD: So, are you a know-it-all control freak?
KR: I think my husband would say so.
PD: Really? Why?
KR: I’m just a nerd. Well, maybe not as controlling as much as a nerd. I like everything organized. I like everything very clean. I don’t like to bend the rules. I’m a nerd. I go to sleep really early. I’m like, “I don’t think that’s the way we should do that,” and my husband’s like, “Alright, nerd. Calm down.” I’m the opposite of cool.

PD: Your son is 3. Is it hard to let go of stuff?
KR: Oh, my God! It changes everything. I feel like the moment I put him to sleep I can clean the kitchen the way I like it and then when he’s awake and he has every toy out you just have to walk away.

PD: Do you make him help pick up?
KR: Yes, of course. We sort of sing a little song about it together, but he’s not as excited about cleaning up as I am. He says, “You, Mama, you.”

PD: A couple of years ago we saw pictures of you schlepping your laundry in a bubble trolley and remember thinking, surely Keri Russell can afford to get her laundry picked up.
KR: Again, I’m a nerd. I love doing laundry and, at the time, we were living in an apartment that my husband was renovating.

PD: So, your favorite cleaning chore?
KR: Oh, God, there’s so many. Ironing is pretty gratifying because it smells nice and it looks nice at the end. I really like, in my house, when the downstairs is clean.

Don’t you just love her more? =)

Did you also know she was a Mouseketeer where she worked with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling. She was also cast in Disney’s sequel Honey, I Blew Up the Kid, as the babysitter.  (This photo reminds me of Robin in HIMYM.)

Then, she starred beside Tom Cruise in Mission impossible 3.  She’s come a long way (makes me question what I’ve done with my life knowing we’re the same age!).

I’m all about the O.C., but ironing is not gratifying. HEHE 😀

  8. I love Keri Russell! In Felicity, in The Waitress… don’t like ironing too much though. Hehe.

    • Maybe there’s something in seeing a wrinkled shirt turn flat? I can only speculate from a general OC perspective as no matter how I think about it, I don’t like ironing.

  9. Sorry super not related: Omgosh I have that same trolley! I was hoping it would be my movable workstation like (eye)candy but it’s just too deep so I keep my rolled papers and boards in it.
