How To Make an Authentic Woody Costume

When I was growing up, Halloween just meant being in Manila Memorial Park with my cousins.  Now, Halloween in Manila has gotten bigger, grander and quite commercial, even for our small village.

Houses are decorated and hundreds of kids dress up in costume, most of them store-bought.  The OC mom in me, though, cannot stand store-bought costumes.  Ok, fine, I’m not only OC.  I’m also cheap very practical.  So every year, I try to make my DD’s costume cheap very creative and use as few store-bought materials as possible.

This year’s theme for DD’s cousins was Toy Story and I think I did a pretty good job of copying Woody.  Yes, my DD wanted to be Woody.  Not Jessie.  Woody.  She MUST be the lead character always.  Talk about over-controlling at a young age.  I wonder where she gets it?

I have to apologize that this isn’t done step-by-step because when I did this, I didn’t know I was going to blog yet.  If by some miracle, someone is reading this and is interested in making this costume, feel free to send me questions at ocmominmanila@gmail.com

Maybe you should start making a handbook of made-from-home costumes, which you can either sell on a per page basis, or turn into a mini-sideline!

You can look at typical costumes and then make a “pattern” for them eventually. =)
